We had a fabulous birding trip to Danube Delta this year with 175 bird species recorded by the group within 7 days of birding! I would characterize this tour as an easy and very productive tour as we focus on the very best places for migrants in the right time of the year.
Highlights of the week were 2 Terek Sandpiper, 202 Broad-billed Sandpiper, Red-necked Phalarope, Dotterel, Little Crake, Saker Falcon, Levant Sparrowhawk, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Pallid Harrier. We also witnessed an amazing visible migration of Purple Herons on the day of 30th of August when we counted 1620 of them moving South constantly in late afternoon.
The highlight list is not over as we found some more interesting birds like White and Dalmatian Pelican, Little Bittern, Pallas`s Gull, Slander-billed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Baltic Gull, over 60 Gull-billed Tern, 100+ Caspian Tern, Arctic Skua, Black Woodpecker (8 species of Woodpecker on the list too), Wryneck with Thrush Nightingale in a same tree, Isabelline and Pied Wheatear, Moustached Warbler, Rosy Starling and so on.
In the next I would like to share a selection of images from this tour with you.
